Rakhi Purnima 2026 falls on Friday, 28 August 2026. This corresponds to the full-moon (Purnima) day of the Shravana month in the Hindu lunar calendar. The exact Muhurat window for tying the rakhi is announced closer to the date by regional pundits and varies with the Bhadra Kaal timing.
What is Raksha Bandhan?
Raksha Bandhan literally means “the bond of protection.” A sister ties a sacred thread — a rakhi— on her brother’s right wrist, prays for his long life and well-being, and applies a tilak on his forehead. The brother, in turn, promises lifelong protection and offers a gift and money as a token.
In modern India the festival has widened to include cousins, close friends, and increasingly the reverse gesture too — brothers tying a rakhi on a sister’s wrist as a sign of mutual protection.
How early should you order?
We ship every ready-stock order via Delhivery within 1–2 business days. To be safe for a delivery in time for Friday, 28 August 2026, we recommend placing your order at least 7–10 days before:
